I hope you are all surviving the weather changes, squirrely student behavior, and the great urge to just take a nap!
It always seems that there is a never-ending to-do list to accomplish, but I am proud to announce that the Association has completed a few important to-dos!
- Thank you to all who helped collect authorization cards for bargaining. Our percentage for representation is 70.47%. This was a great success because of your hard work talking to staff members throughout the district!
- Our negotiations team met with the district on March 9th. They have met several times already to build a strong, clear message about the needs and wants of the Association. Our next meeting is March 29th and I encourage you all to attend.
After a sudden surprise this morning that got my fire burning, I was pleasantly reminded of one of the strongest reasons I am glad to be an Association member – the relationships I have built with my colleagues and fellow Association members. I turned to my friends, those who hold me up when I am weary, and they changed my attitude. They saw the bright side of the situation and reminded me that together we are stronger. They helped me understand that we can take any negative and work together to make it a positive. And, they also made me chuckle a little. Laughter, like food, always helps.
Education is always about the kids, but how do we ensure that we are doing what’s best for kids? By working together. Because of what the Association stands for, I have found friends who have pushed me professionally, encouraged me to stand up for what is right, and who just make my life better.
Over the next week, I encourage you to thank a colleague or fellow Association member for their friendship.
